The Creed 01 What is Faith? (introductory video)
This first video is inspired by the goals of the Year of Faith detailed in the Apostolic Letter “Porta Fidei” from Benedict XVI. It answers the question: “What is faith?” and invites us to build on its contents.
The Creed 02 I believe in God the Father almighty
There is only one God. Human beings can know God. God is One and Triune. He is the Father and He is Almighty. God is Love.
The Creed 03 Creator of heaven and earth
God has created the world out of nothing. Creation and evolution. Man and woman. The Fall. The promise of Redemption. The mystery of evil and pain.
The Creed 04 I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord
Jesus Christ is the only Son of God. The names of Jesus: the Christ, the Lord, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Son of Man.
The Creed 05 He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
The mystery of the Incarnation. Jesus Christ is true God and Man. The body and soul of Christ. He was conceived without male intervention. Jesus Christ is God as is the Father.
The Creed 06 He was born of the Virgin Mary
Mary is the Woman chosen by God to be the Mother of Jesus Christ, true God and Man. She is, therefore, the Mother of God. Her privileges: She is immaculate, always virgin, assumed into Heaven, Mother of Christians.
The Creed 07 He suffered under Pontius Pilate
The transfiguration. The resurrection of Lazarus. The triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The decision to kill Him. Easter and the Last Supper. The prayer in the Garden and the arrest. The trial before Caiaphas.
The Creed 08 He was crucified, died, and was buried
The Passion and Death of Jesus happened “according to the Scriptures”. He gave His life in exchange for many. He has atoned for our sins. His sacrifice brings us back into God’s grace. Jesus in the tomb.
The Creed 09 He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again
What was the “hell” Jesus descended into? The Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The apparitions to the disciples. The importance of faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Creed 10 He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father
The Ascension of Jesus into heaven. Christ the Lord and King of the universe. What does it mean that his Kingdom will have no end?
The Creed 11 He will come again to judge the living and the dead
The end of this world; the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the final judgment.
Credo 12 I believe in the Holy Spirit
The Third Person in the Holy Trinity. His intervention on the prophets and the Virgin Mary. The Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ. His coming to the Church on the Day of the Pentecost.
The Creed 13 I believe in the holy catholic Church
The origin and nature of the Church (the Mystical Body of Christ, the People of God, the mystery of Communion...). Its mission in the world. The faithful and the hierarchy. The Pope, the bishops, the priests, the laymen, the consecrated life.
The Creed 14 I believe in the communion of saints and the forgiveness of sins
What does the “communion of saints” mean? The different states of life (living, souls in purgatory, saints in heaven). The power of the forgiveness of sin belongs to Christ and has been given to the Church: the sacraments of Baptism and Penance.
The Creed 15 I believe in the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
What happens after you die? What does “resurrection of the flesh” mean? Christ raised and our resurrection. Eternal life: hell and the glory of heaven. The new heavens and the new earth. The meaning of the final “Amen”.
